Caramel Apple Pie Bombs

Ingredients
  

  • 7.5 oz can of biscuit dough use smaller biscuits for easier rolling
  • 21 oz can apple pie filling store-bought, ready-to-use
  • 10 individually wrapped caramels halved lengthwise (for gooey filling)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar for coating
  • 2 teaspoon ground cinnamon for coating and flavor
  • Vegetable oil for frying enough to submerge dough balls
  • Caramel sundae sauce optional topping for serving

Equipment

  • 1 Heavy-bottomed saucepan 2–3 quart, for frying dough balls
  • 1 Slotted spoon Metal, for lifting and turning dough balls in hot oil
  • 1 Small heat-safe bowl For mixing cinnamon sugar coating
  • 1 Rolling pin or hands For flattening biscuit dough
  • 1 Lined plate Plate with paper towels for draining fried pie bombs
  • 1 set Measuring spoons and cups For accurately measuring ingredients

Method
 

  1. Fill a heavy-bottomed saucepan about halfway with vegetable oil.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Open the biscuit can and flatten each dough piece using your fingers or a rolling pin.
  4. Place 1 tablespoon of apple pie filling in the center of each flattened dough circle.
  5. Top the filling with a halved caramel piece. Pinch dough edges together and gently shape into a smooth ball.
  6. Heat the oil over medium heat until a tiny dough piece bubbles when tested.
  7. Carefully lower 2 dough balls at a time into the hot oil using a slotted spoon. Fry, turning to brown evenly on all sides.
  8. Remove the fried balls and roll immediately in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat.
  9. Place coated pie bombs on a lined plate. Repeat with remaining dough. Drizzle with caramel sauce if desired.
